Admission

Access to all three cycles of academic studies at the University of East Sarajevo is guaranteed based on the principles of equality and public call for applications.

Individuals who have completed a four-year secondary school in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as those who have completed their secondary education abroad, are eligible to enroll in the first cycle of studies. In order to enroll in the first cycle of studies at the University of East Sarajevo, all candidates who have obtained their high school diploma abroad must have their diploma recognized by the ministry in charge. The exceptions are those who have obtained their secondary school diploma in the Republic of Serbia, according to the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Documents in Education and Regulation of the Status of Students (Official Gazette of the RS, No. 79/05).

Admission to the second cycle of studies that is worth 60 ECTS credits is available to those who have completed the first cycle of relevant academic studies and earned at least 240 ECTS credits, whereas the second cycle of studies that is worth 120 ECTS credits is available to those who have completed their first-cycle studies with minimum 180 ECTS credits.

Admission to the third cycle of studies is available to:

  • Individuals who have completed the second-cycle academic studies/integrated studies with at least 300 credits and a grade point average of at least 8.00 in both the first and second cycles, who are proficient in a foreign language, and who fulfill other conditions set by faculty/academy regulations, depending on the scientific field.
  • Individuals who completed postgraduate master’s studies according to the previously applied rules and regulations, with a grade point average of at least 8.00, proficiency in a foreign language, and who fulfill other conditions set by faculty/academy regulations.
  • Individuals whose degree obtained according to the previously applied rules and regulations has been recognized as equivalent to the degree obtained after completing the second cycle of studies, with a grade point average of at least 8.00, proficiency in a foreign language, and who fulfill other conditions set by faculty/academy regulations, depending on the scientific field.

The Senate of the University of East Sarajevo passes the enrollment plan based the proposals from the faculties/academies for the enrollment of students in the next academic year of the first and second cycles, under budget-funded and co-financed status. The final number of state-funded and co-financing students for the first and second cycles is determined by the Government of the Republic of Srpska. The Senate also determines the admission quota for self-financing students, part-time students, and foreign nationals for the first, second cycles of studies, as well as the admission quota for students in the third cycle of studies.

The University announces a public call for applications for the enrollment in study programs. The call outlines the requirements of the entrance examination/tests of aptitude and ability. The University also announces special requirements together with the call for applications.

The call for applications for the enrollment of students in the 2025/2026 academic year at the University of East Sarajevo will be announced on 11th June 2025.

Applications for the first cycle of studies at all the faculties and academies will be accepted from June 23 to June 27, 2025, with entrance exams scheduled for June 30th and July 1st, 2025.

Candidates will be allowed in the 2025/2026 academic year to apply electronically for the entrance exam at all the faculties/academies except for the Faculty of Medicine in Foča.  Electronic applications for the enrollment in the first cycle of studies will be accepted at https://estudent.ues.rs.ba/ from June 23rd  to June 28th, 2025.

Students who pass the entrance exam and qualify for enrollment can register from July 7th to July 11th, 2025.

The second admission period will be organized for faculties that do not enroll the planned number of students in the first period. The call for applications in the second period will be announced on August 13, and the applications for the entrance exam will be accepted from August 25 to August 29, 2025.

Applications for the second period can also be submitted electronically at all the faculties/academies except for the Faculty of Medicine in Foča. The e-applications will be submitted at https://estudent.ues.rs.ba/ from August 25th  to August 30th, 2025.

Entrance exams for the second admission period will be held on September 1st, 2025.  The registration/enrollment of successful candidates is scheduled for September 8th to September 12th, 2025.
