The Faculty of Technology in Zvornik was founded\nin the academic year 1993\/1994 by the Decision \nof the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska. The bachelor degree\nwas a five-year study programme with only one general curriculum, without\nmajoring within suitable narrower fields of study. The teaching staff core\nincluded professors and associates who had been previously employed at the\nFaculty of Technology in Tuzla. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the moment it was\nestablished till the end of 2006, the Faculty operated as a legal entity.\nHowever, since the year 2007, the\nFaculty has been an organizational unit of the integrated University of East\nSarajevo, with clearly defined conditions necessary for licensing and holding a\nwork permit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the past 25 years of its tradition, the\nFaculty has been continuously working on the improvement of the Curriculum. In the academic year\n2004\/2005, the Faculty adopted a new curriculum adjusted to the concept of the\nEuropean higher educational area, the\nBologna Process<\/em> and the European Federation\nof Chemical Engineering<\/em> (EFCE) guidelines. The Faculty offers a three-cycle system of studies with the\n\u201c4+1+3\u201c model. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Two study programmes are included: <\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. Chemical Engineering and Technology<\/em><\/strong>, licensed and accredited for four elective modules (the first and the\nsecond cycle): Chemical Process\nEngineering, Environmemnt Protection Engineering, Food Technology<\/em> and Occupational Safety and Fire Protection<\/em>. The third cycle comprises two programmes: Food Chain Management<\/em> and Chemical Engineering and Technology<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. Biology<\/em><\/strong>, started from the academic year 2013\/2014,\nlicensed for the first cycle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Faculty of Technology today has 47 full-time employees (18 lecturers, 8\nassociates and 21 member of administration). Four teachers have a part-time (50\n%) employment and 17 a part -time employment with less than 50% engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So far a total of 2148 students have enrolled the\nFaculty of Technology, with 394 students who are currently actively engaged in\nall three cycles. A total of 369 stdents\nhave graduated from the Faculty, 71 have completed master\u2019s programme ( 46\n\u201cmagisters\u201c and 25 master\u2019s degrees), and 29 have completed PhD studies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Scientific research has become particularly intense over the last\ndecade. This has resulted in a successful completion of a large number of\ndevelopmental and research projects approved\nby the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Srpska, as well as\nnumerous international projects and \nprojects for the industrial sectors. For the purpose of these and many other forms of\nactivities, the Faculty uses its 5000 m2<\/sup>\nof premises, 2200 m2<\/sup> of which are classrooms and offices, including\n12 laboratories with modern equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Faculty of Technology organizes an international congress named \u201cEngineering, Environment and Materials\nin Process Industry\u201c, which is held every two years. So far there have been\nfive congresses, all of which have received very positive reviews when it comes\nto the number of participants, the quality of papers and overall organization.\nSince the year 2009, the Faculty has also been a proud publisher of the \u201cJournal of Engineering<\/em> <\/em>&<\/em> <\/em>Processing\nManagement<\/em>\u201c<\/em>.\n\nIn\n2012 the Faculty received a special award from the Chamber of Commerce and\nIndustry of the Republic of Srpska as the most successful higher education\ninstitution in the field of cooperation with industrial sectors.
